Strawberry Basil Spritz

  • 2 oz Belgian Wheat Spirit
  • 3/4 oz strawberry syrup
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • soda water
  • basil
  • strawberries

To make the strawberry syrup:
Combine one cup of water and one cup of sugar in a pot over medium heat. Add in 1/2 a cup of sliced, hulled strawberries and let simmer for about 10 minutes until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let sit for five minutes. Strain and let cool before use.

Break one large basil leaf into pieces, cut one strawberry in half and muddle the fruit in a shaking tin. Add all ingredients except the soda water and shake until chilled. Pour over fresh ice into mason jar and top with soda water, fresh basil leaf and strawberry for garnish.
